Multiply The Music!
Wonderful Christians in Alaska gave a guitar to Pastor John Lodinyo 3 years ago, and it has waited for the right opportunity to fly to Kenya. They shipped it to us in South Carolina, and we took it with us in May to West Pokot. John has passed it on to another Pastor here to multiply the sounds of praise to The Lord from another village church in the bush.
Exciting Adventure!
If you want an exciting adventure to read, by all means get "White Man Walking," by Ward Brehm. This American businessman accepts a challenge to come to Kenya and walk to a remote area of the West Pokot bush with Pastor John Lodinyo. You will feel like you are on the journey with them!! February in Kenya, Much Done, Much Ahead
WE'RE BACK SAFE AND FULL OF JOY Ken, Sally (Daughter and Son-in-law) and I are now safely home after a month in Kenya. Our trip was successful and led by the Holy Spirit in every way and then some! To share this trip with my adult children and see the Lord use them in such powerful ways was a memory I will treasure forever! They saw their Mother in a different light also, where I operated in my ministry alongside the Pokot people.
MEDICALLY - We delivered medicines to Sister Freda's Cottage Hospital in Kitale, and visited with her family. Every day she feeds dozens of neighbor children who have no food. They spend time learning to read, sing, and pray before returning home. Sometimes they save a little food to put in their pocket for someone at home. We prayed with 2 women, a little girl and a man suffering with malaria. All were up the next day much better and greatly encouraged! We prayed for a woman from Sudan gravely ill and blessed them with moneyto help them with their stay there and to return home. Their concerns were turned to great joy! Sister Freda gave us pineapples, papaya, plantains, and bananas to take to the desert to enjoy, and we did!!
In the desert, we gave shares of meds to Kiwawa and Kamila clinics. In Kamila, the local Chief and the District Chief gave us 10 acres for the new clinic we're building. We were speechless at this great gift and now we must pray and work for funding. Ken is now drawing the final plans after visiting some other clinics during our travels to see what they really want. This clinic is centrally located to service a great area of people who have little or no help at all. The church jumped and sang with all of their hearts in Kamila as we enjoyed this day with them.
THE CHURCHES We visited 19 Pastors in the desert who are lacking support and gave out the encouragement envelopes of money we prepared along with a ball cap ($3,000 Kenya Shillings each, which is only about $42 dollars). Each church greeted us in the road leading to their village singing their greetings to us while waving tree branches of welcome which they put on the front grill of the car. Then inside the little building or under the tree (whichever) the choir sang away and we gave a Gospel message of healing, ending with encouragement to preach the Great Commission to the rest of those in the mountains who have not heard Jesus' Name yet. We heard about their on-going critical needs for wells, more food and seeds to plant, and benches. We earnestly prayed for healings for the sick with wonderful results. In Kasai, we paid for a celebration meal for over 1,000 people from 6 churches and shared communion in a wonderful climax to the trip on the day before we left the desert.
Everywhere we went, we transported huge bags of maize (corn) and people lined up to receive equally. This amounted to 3 days of food from us. This was all given by one precious person's donation to us. Also out of this gift came iron sheets (the roof) for 2 more churches to be built in 2 villages currently having church under a tree. When we supply the roof for them, they do the rest with cut trees and mud for the floor and sides.
STUDENTS We currently have one girl, Jackline, who is doing well in nursing school in Uganda and blessed with a faithful sponsor for her! We arranged for Emmanuel to return to school who dropped out due to sickness last year. We have 2 more young people who want to go to nursing school and are now awaiting their results on the national tests, so that they can then apply to go. We need to raise support for them as well. We have 3 students in school by God's grace waiting for support for this year, and hoping that the school won't send them home before that happens. ($300 per year room and board). A young man named Loliwale is in school, but behind in tuition payments of 13,000 ksh ( a little under $200) + $300 for this year. We have requests for many more students just waiting for a sponsor.
OTHER NEWS We paid for satellite phone units, all of the car expenses, all of our food,, Christian guest houses, and small gifts for many needs along the way. On our way back to Nairobi, we had the GREATEST visit with Randy, Cindy, and Laurel Lail in Eldoret. They recently sold out everything in America, and moved there from our own Seacoast Church in Charleston, SC to partner with Joel and Christine Maregwa in discipling new Pokot and Turkana believers helping growth and understanding of the Scriptures to continue in their lives. Pray for this ministry, Bread of Life Mission International to inspire these believers We are excited for them, and looking forward to time with them each trip in the future.
